A Shock to the System is directed by Jan Egleson and adapted to screenplay by Andrew Klavan from the novel written by Simon Brett.
Graham Marshall (Caine) is once again overlooked for promotion and once again his harpy wife (Kurtz) belittles him. Then a heated exchange at the train station results in the accidental death of a beggar, and he gets away with it, something which gives Graham some devilish thoughts, one of Satan's light bulbs ignited above his head.

Directed by Jan Egleson
Based on a novel written by Simon Brett.

Stars: Michael Caine, Elizabeth McGovern, Will Patton, Swoosie Kurtz, Jenny Wright and Samuel L. Jackson in a cameo (Appears very briefly as a three-card Monte dealer, on the street, with one quick line of dialogue).

Michael Caine said of this movie in a 2002 interview with "Venice Magazine", "That was a lovely little film, but it was too small for its own good, really. It got lost. It was the sort of film, were it made today, that would be great as a film for HBO, or something. But at the time, it just got lost in the system.

Subs: English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Sleuth (Joseph L. Mankiewicz, 1972) - Updated Link!

In England, the Italian English hairdresser Milo Tindle (Michael Caine) is invited by the successful writer of detective stories Andrew Wyke (Laurence Olivier) to visit his isolated house. The lower class Milo is the lover of Andrew's wife, who is used to have a comfortable life, and he intends to marry her. Andrew proposes Milo to steal his jewelry simulating a burglary. Milo would make a fortune selling the jewels to an intermediary; and Andrew would be reimbursed by the insurance company and would not pay alimony. However, the whole situation was part of an evil game. When Milo vanishes, a detective visits Andrew to investigate what really happened that night, when deadly games are disclosed.

    Director
        Joseph L. Mankiewicz
    Writer
Anthony Shaffer (his play and his screenplay)
    Stars
Laurence Olivier, Michael Caine, Alec Cawthorne

Music by John Addison.

Film nominated for 4 Oscars and 4 BAFTAs.

Sir Michael Caine was so very much beside himself to be working with Lord Laurence Olivier that he didn't even know how to address him. Eventually, he broke down and just asked. Olivier replied "Well, I am the Lord Olivier and you are Mr. Michael Caine. Of course, that's only for the first time you address me. After that I am Larry, and you are Mike."

The reason this film is so difficult to find on streaming is because it fell into the hands of a pharmaceutical company called Bristol-Myers Squibb, who dissolved their entertainment division shortly after creating it, leaving this movie's distribution rights in limbo. It has since never been re-acquired or restored as of early 2022.

Michael Caine tells in his biography that Laurence Olivier could not, at first, remember his lines - he, a great stage actor who could initially remember three hours of lines in a play. He could not because of pills he started taking to calm him down after he learned that a theater of his, which he put much money and many efforts in for many years, had to be closed down. But Olivier eventually stopped taking those pills and his memory.

(At around forty-seven minutes) When tossing the chess pieces to the floor, Sir Laurence Olivier cuts the palm of his hand very badly. You can see him look down at his hand, put his handkerchief in his palm, and put his hand in his jacket pocket. He then finishes the scene.

At 45 minutes, as Milo looks at the jewelry he thinks he is going to steal, Andrew says,"Moses looks upon the Promised Land" Milo told Andrew that he wasn't religious. Had he been more familiar with the story he would have known that Moses wasn't allowed to enter the promised land, just look at it from a distance. This may have been Andrew giving Milo a clue.

X, Y And Zee (1972)

One more tribute to Dame Elizabeh Taylor. Another film with her starring which YouTube is not blocking. The film is copyrighted but the owner allows the content to be on YouTube.

Big, boozy, and beautiful Elizabeth Taylor (as Zee) has an "modern marriage" with London architect Michael Caine (as Robert Blakeley). Their extra-curricular activities aren't too serious. Then, Mr. Caine falls in "love at first sight" with blonde boutique owner Susannah York (as Stella). Caine sets her up in an apartment and plans to leave Ms. Taylor. Sensing a rival who will truly threaten her marriage, Taylor ingratiates herself into her husband's romance - intending to end the affair, or go crazy trying.

Director Brian G. Hutton

Stars: Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Caine, Susannah York, John Standing and Margaret Leighton.

Music by Stanley Meyers.

During filming, just in the middle of a scene, Dame Elizabeth Taylor shouted "Cut". Director Brian G. Hutton asked Taylor what was going on. She replied that she needed to go to the bathroom. Hutton said he was astonished that the great Elizabeth Taylor needed to go to bathroom, because he thought fairies came and took it away in toothpaste tubes. Taylor laughed.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor had it in her contract that she did not have to start work before 10:00 a.m. She did arrive to the set on time, however, and in a procession of three or four limousines for herself and her entourage.

Subs in English & Portuguese.

O Último Refúgio (The Last Valley), de James Clavell (1971)

Curiosidades (by IMDb)

Michael Caine e Roger C. Carmel

Addison também é ator e comediante, tendo aparecido na série britânica "Doctor Who", "Skins" e "The Thick of It".
