Reichau, a former army captain, is back in France after serving three years in prison for belonging to the OAS (Secret Armed Organization), a dissident paramilitary group during the Algerian War. Marked by his past, he does not believe in the values of his country any more. At a loss to know what to do with his life, he agrees one day to take part in a heist set up by Pierre, a pilot, the very man who gave him away in Oran. The operation, in which Yo, a gorgeous woman, participates, consists in stealing a bag containing 55 million francs during a Paris-Bordeaux flight.

The Brothers Karamazonv - Bratya Karamazovy - Parts 1, 2 and 3 (1969)

Captive of the Desert (La Captive du Desert) - 1990

Sandrine Bonnaire plays a European researcher who is abducted by some ill-educated rebels in a North African country. They have no clear reason for holding her hostage, and after a considerable period of time (and an escape attempt by their captive), they simply let her go. The story is based on a similar situation that the director Raymond Depardon covered when he was a reporter.

Anne-Marie, a well–off young woman, decides to become a nun, joining a convent that rehabilitates female prisoners. H2S (1969)

"H2S" was never released outside Italy. Rarely seen since its original Cinema release in 1968 this surreal futuristic comedy drama is directed by Roberto Faenza whose inspirations from his art college days are clearly displayed here. Student revolts in a futuristic scientific university see an unusual role for the American actor Lionel Stander,who had previously been cast as the barman in Sergio Leone's "Cera una volta il West"(1968) The story is a puzzling one- it begins in London,England where students are controlled by a dictatorship Government where sex is outlawed.The film was supposed to have been banned in Italy and destroyed,but do they really do that to films these days? Nonetheless,the set designs are truly stunning,especially the second half of the film where the runaway lovers end up living in the Italian mountains in a colourful 'funked-up' igloo! But the film is so slow and bemusing blending political statements with sci-fi which was to emerge as a popular genre in the US. The musical score by Ennio Morricone is superb.

The Man with the Lens - Der Mann mit dem Objektiv - (1961)

Blood - O Sangue - (1989)

Blood (a movie from Portugal) tells the story of seventeen-year-old Vincente and his ten-year-old brother, Nino, who must face the departure of their abusive father and its aftermath. With the aid of Vicente’s girlfriend, Clara, the trio attempts to pick up the pieces of their fractured family life while confronting an unwelcomed uncle and mobsters who try to collect debt that their father left behind.

Filmed in exquisite black and white, O Sangue marks a significant step in the career of Costa, who would eventually become one of Portugal’s most celebrated artists. While O Sangue is a first glimpse of his masterful use of chiaroscuro lighting, Costa has veered away from his debut’s formalist aesthetics in his subsequent films, which concentrate on his hypnotic portraits of real-life characters in the lower depths of Portuguese society.

This Hungarian black comedy is set at a very special fantasy park that allows visitors to play organized war games. Sial IV - (1969) - French Mini series in 4 parts

Sial IV is a French TV miniseries by Greek filmmaker and writer Adonis Kyrou, adapted from the speculative fiction novel Deadly Image (AKA The Uncertain Midnight) by British author Edmund Cooper. It tells the story of Denis Lange, a fallout shelter engineer who is accidentally trapped in suspended animation as war breaks out in 1970, only to awaken in the early 2100s in Sial IV, an underground city in which humankind lives a life of leisure, having discharged all responsibility to androids. Assigned the android Diana as his personal assistant, Denis ventures through this unsettling idyll, eventually finding a small but tenacious group of resistors who seek to uncover the truth about the compound and its ruler, the mysterious Machiavelli.

My YouTube channels temporarily frozen

I have three YouTube channels:

The reason for three channels is that I am always trying to escape from getting my channels removed by YouTube. After three strikes, the channel is completed deleted by them. All the movies are gone with it.

The system used by YouTube to check copyright is very weak and unreliable to say the least.

Some movies that I publish are considered No Copyright Issues, but later, when the copyright owner watches his film on the platform, sends a message to YouTube to remove the film. A strike follows.

Sometimes the film published is copyrighted but the owner allows the movie to be on YouTube.  Later, the movie is removed by request of the holder of the rights.

This is not a fair play being practiced by YouTube. If you complain you get zero response.

Therefore, I have to live with this. It is like the Nazis with the French Resistance in Paris at the time of the French Occupation.

My channels are temporarily frozen because they are on ‘phase 2’, that is, with two strikes. They will be unfrozen by mid or end of July 2024 when the first or second strike expires. Be patient and follow this blog.

Night Falls - La noche avanza (1952)

Marcos is a professional jai alai player undefeated on the court in 26 matches. The super confident Marcos has acquired a Trumpian disdain for weak losers, including a fellow player who suffers a fracture as a result of Marcos’ carelessness. When he’s not dominating his opponents, he’s trying to balance his relationships with several women, including recently widowed old flame Sara, nightclub thrush Lucrecia, and mother-to-be Rebeca. Marcos promises to wed Rebeca without telling her he’s about to leave Mexico permanently, setting in motion a plot by Rebeca’s brother Armando to blackmail the first class heel while also getting out of his debt to gambler Marcial.

They will find a village, but cannot get any help because they do not understand a word of what the inhabitants say…

A metaphysical mystery based on the novel by Leonardo Sciascia, Todo modo is the most curious and puzzling of Petri’s films and offers a not-so-veiled critique of Christian Democratic political power. 1968, London. Luca is first forced to return to Italy, then he is kidnapped by his father’s collaborators, jailed into a sanitarium, put through the electroshock and other torments. Then, when ‘normalized’ Luca marries a woman who in reality is a psychologist paid by his father to brainwash him and turn him into a perfect businessman.

Bella, a sensitive and clever girl, experiences her first disillusionment at the school graduation ball. The following morning, she meets Apostol, a middle-aged man, architect, and former participant in the anti-fascist struggle. He reveals to her his views on life. Xích lô (1995) aka Cyclo - A Vietnamese film

A “cyclo” is a bicycle-drawn taxi similar to a rickshaw, and, in this story, the nickname of an 18-year-old boy trying to scrape together a living in the desperate poverty of Ho Chi Mihn City. Cyclo lives with his grandfather and two sisters, and drives his taxi for a bitter woman who devotes most of her time to her mentally unstable son. When the pedal-cab is stolen, Cyclo is forced into a life of crime to repay the debt and falls in with a group of petty thugs led by a self-styled poet. What Cyclo doesn’t know at first is that the poet is also a pimp, and he’s been using his romantic wiles to lure Cyclo’s older sister into a career as a prostitute.

When the protagonist leaves his small village and travels to Tehran to find a wife, he does so with all the gusto and naivete of one who has not experienced the world. Yet even when Mr. Gullible encounters some of the harsh realities of the big city, he is not dissuaded from accomplishing his mission to find a bride. When he finally meets what he believes is the perfect woman, Mr Gullible showers her with gifts and asks her to marry him. However, his romantic visions of life with his lady love are obliterated when he discovers her true identity

Serial Killer - Ryakushô: renzoku shasatsuma - (1975)

Between October 11 and November 5 of 1968, teenager Norio Nagayama murdered four people in a killing spree across Japan with a shotgun stolen from a U.S. Army base. Adachi Masao, together with cultural theorist Matsuda Masao, scriptwriter Sasaki Mamoru and other collaborators, set out to trace the young man’s footsteps with a camera in hand. The result is an experimental documentary comprised purely of landscape shots, each of which shows scenery that Nagayama may or may not have seen during his upbringing and journey. Seeking an alternative to the sensationalism found in the media’s depiction of serial killers (which continues to this day), Adachi’s sparse voice-over provides only the hard facts while the increasing number of billboards in the landscapes slowly reveal the hegemony of capitalism in contemporary Japan.

Gerd Wiesler is an officer with the Stasi, the East German secret police. The film begins in 1984 when Wiesler attends a play written by Georg Dreyman, who is considered by many to be the ultimate example of the loyal citizen. Wiesler has a gut feeling that Dreyman can't be as ideal as he seems, and believes surveillance is called for. The Minister of Culture agrees but only later does Wiesler learn that the Minister sees Dreyman as a rival and lusts after his partner Christa-Maria. The more time he spends listening in on them, the more he comes to care about them. The once rigid Stasi officer begins to intervene in their lives, in a positive way, protecting them whenever possible. Eventually, Wiesler's activities catch up to him and while there is no proof of wrongdoing, he finds himself in menial jobs - until the unbelievable happens.

November is based on Estonian novel "Rehepapp" by Andrus Kivirähk, a bestseller of the last twenty years. The film is a mixture of magic, black humor and romantic love. The story is set in a pagan Estonian village where werewolves, the plague, and spirits roam. The villagers' main problem is how to survive the cold, dark winter. And, to that aim, nothing is taboo. People steal from each other, from their German manor lords, and from spirits, the devil, and Christ. To guard their souls, they'll give them away to thieving creatures made of wood and metal called kratts, who help their masters by stealing more. They steal even if their barns are already overflowing. Stealing is an obsession that makes the villagers more and more like the soulless creatures they command, the kratts. The main character of the film is a young farm girl named Liina who is hopelessly and forlornly in love with a village boy named Hans.

Estonia's submission to the Foreign Language Film Award of the 90th Annual Academy Awards.

Despite Estonia being ruled by Germanic nobles, Estonia was part of the Russian empire at the time (as Germanic nobles still controlled much of Estonia under Russian control). This puts the date somewhere between 1720-1900. Neither Russia nor Germany clamped down on pagan beliefs until well into the late 19th century, making Estonia one of the last pagan states in Europe. Due to the Soviet's policy of forced atheism in the early 1900s, Estonia remained secular for many years, leaving it as one of the least religious countries in the world as of the 21st century.
