The series takes place from 1853 to 1918. In almost 70 years we follow the course of history from the marriage of the young Franz Josef with the daughter of Queen Victoria, Vicky, through the abdication of Kaiser Wilhelm II (son of Vicky).
Each of the empires became republics by the end of the World War I (also known as The Great War), a war, which the series implies, could so easily have been avoided. Also there were family links with England that fell apart after the war.
The story is narrated by Michael Hordern, putting each story in context, although using a minimum of outdoor filming to avoid extra costs.
The miniseries was produced by BBC in thirteen episodes with subtitles only in English.
The music opening theme used is by Gustav Mahler. And they also used a funeral march by Mozart (Kleiner Trauermarsch).

A minissérie da BBC, Fall of Eagles, de 1974, conta a história da queda de três grandes casas reais: Os Habsburgos da Áustria, Os Hohenzollerns da Alemanha e Os Romanovs da Rússia.
A série cobre o período de 1853 a 1918. São quase 70 anos, desde o casamento de Vicky (filha da Rainha Vitória) com Franz Josef até a abdicação de William II ou Guilherme II.
Todos os três impérios se tornam repúblicas ao final da 1ª Guerra Mundial (também conhecida como a Grande Guerra), uma guerra, conforme a série coloca, poderia ter sido facilmente evitada. Também houve ligações com a Inglaterra que acabam depois da guerra.
A história é narrada por Michael Hordern, colocando cada parte em contexto e usando um mínimo de filmagens externas para evitar custos extras.
A minissérie foi produzida pela BBC em treze episódios com legendas apenas em Inglês.
O tema da abertura usa música do compositor Gustav Mahler. Também chegam a usar uma marcha fúnebre de Mozart (a Kleiner Trauermarsch)

Pena nao existir com legendas em portugues , somente os dois primeiros capitulos … uma grande pena pra quem quer estudar essa epoca e nao falar ingles
