Chère Louise (1972)

Louise lives alone and seems to like it that way. She has been through a divorce and the recent death of her mother. Recently, she has moved to Annecy, a moderate-sized city, to take work as a schoolteacher. She encounters a much younger man, Luigi, an Italian who is down on his luck. Though he moved to France to find work, he was robbed of his money and papers and is stranded. When he helps her bury her dogs, which her neighbour has poisoned for barking, their relationship grows to a new level.

As the world decayed into chaos, the Metropolitan Police had no choice but to fight back, creating an elite unit of police. They became known as Kerberos, the Watchdogs of Hell. Over time, though, the zeal of the police force was transformed into cruelty and corruption. Three of the elite rebelled against the system. But only one, senior detective Koichi Todome, escaped to freedom. Several years later, he returns home. But why? What is left for him in this city that continues to decay? Koichi must now determine who is friend and who is foe as he attempts to unravel what happened after he left.

The Flight of the Eagle - Ingenjör Andrées luftfärd - (1982)

The Swedish 19th century engineer S. A. Andrée sets out to become the first man on the north pole. His idea is to launch a polar expedition using a hydrogen balloon, together with two friends. The balloon, “The Eagle”, takes off from Svalbard in 1897, but the three men are not heard of again.

Nouvelle Vague (Jean-Luc Goddard , 1990)

Composed entirely by literary quotations from many different sources and from several historical periods, Godard’s film works as an allegory on film. The loose narrative tells about a drifter found by a rich woman who soon falls in love with him. A drowning accident takes place and the drifter dies but some time later, he reappears in the woman’s life looking for a job. Or could it be the man’s twin brother?
